JAFCO Ventures was a late-stage investor in AFC. The company completed its IPO in 1996 (NASDAQ: AFCI) and has a current market capitalization of more than $2 billion.


Avanex
Avanex is a leading provider of a broad range of integrated photonic subsystems, integrated optical modules and passive optical components that improve the speed and capacity of fiber optic transmission networks. JAFCO Ventures invested in the first round of financing of Avanex in 1998 and participated in each subsequent round. The company completed its IPO in 2000 (NASDAQ: AVNX) and has a current market capitalization of more than $650 million.


Brocade Communications Systems
Brocade is an industry-leading provider of intelligent platforms for networking storage. The Brocade SilkWorm family of fabric switches and software is designed to optimize data availability for storage and server resources in the enterprise. JAFCO Ventures invested in the third round of financing for Brocade and participated in the subsequent round of financing. The company completed its IPO in 1999 (NASDAQ: BRCD) and has a current market capitalization of approximately $1.8 billion.


CIENA
CIENA is a provider of intelligent optical networking systems and software, offering telecommunications network solutions to service providers and enterprises worldwide. JAFCO invested in the company's second round of financing and participated in each subsequent round. CIENA completed its IPO in 1997 (NASDAQ: CIEN) and has a current market capitalization of approximately $2.7 billion.


Digital Island
Digital Island is a leading provider of managed Internet services for business customers. The company supplies integrated managed hosting, content delivery and intelligent network services to bypass Internet congestion and guarantee fast and relevant interaction. JAFCO Ventures participated in the third round of financing in early 1998. Digital Island completed its IPO in 1999 (NASDAQ: ISLD) and was subsequently acquired by Cable & Wireless in 2001 for $340 million.


Monterey Networks
Monterey is a leading developer of high-speed optoelectronic telecommunications devices. The company's products focus on upgrading the carrier SONET transmission infrastructure and are designed to enable carriers to deploy services faster over high-speed optic networks. JAFCO Ventures invested in the first round of financing of Monterey and participated in all subsequent rounds. The company was acquired by Cisco Systems in 1999 for $500 million.


Nvidia
Nvidia is the industry leader in graphics processors and media and communications devices. The company's product line enriches 3D, 2D, video, audio, communications, broadband connectivity, and high-definition digital video for all platforms. JAFCO Ventures invested in the second round of financing in 1994 and participated in later rounds as well. Nvidia completed its IPO in 1999 (NASDAQ: NVDA) and currently has a current market capitalization of approximately $3.4 billion.


Pirus Networks
Pirus Networks is a developer of a new generation of IP storage networking systems. It introduced the industry's first storage utility switch designed to reduce storage ownership costs and streamline data management. JAFCO Ventures was an investor in the company's second round of financing. Pirus was acquired by Sun Microsystems in 2002 for $160 million.


Silknet Software
Silknet was a developer of customer service software that allows companies to offer personalized marketing, sales, electronic commerce, and customer support services through a single, company-tailored website interface. JAFCO Ventures invested in the third round of financing and participated in subsequent rounds. Silknet completed its IPO in 1999 (NASDAQ: SILK) and subsequently merged with Kana Communications in a $4.2 billion transaction.


Tivoli Systems
Tivoli is a leading provider of intelligent system software for management of computers, systems, computer users, groups of users, hard disks, printers, modem pools, and other resources. JAFCO Ventures participated in the third round of financing of Tivoli. The company completed its IPO in 1995 (NASDAQ: TVLI) and was subsequently acquired by IBM in 1996 for $743 million.
