About Jafco Ventures

  • Q
What round do you typically invest in and do you take board seats?
    A
Although our venture investing team members are all accomplished Series A investors, the entire focus of our firm is to be the Series B or C investor of choice. Since at this stage there is still much heavy lifting to be done, we are usually invited to take board seats or are active observers.
  • Q
Are you typically the lead investor?
    A
Occasionally we fill out a round of financing in a company we like, but in almost all cases we are selected to lead the round of financing when we invest. We have decades of experience leading venture rounds and given our focus on Series B and C financings, we structure deals that align our interests with all stakeholders of the company—existing investors, founders, management and employees.
  • Q
How big a check do you write?
    A
Our sweet spot is to lead financings that are in the $10 to $20 million range, but we have invested in both smaller and larger rounds as well. For an initial investment, our typical range of investment $6 million to $12 million with the average investment $10 million in size.
  • Q
What is your decision process and how long does it take?
    A
We take great pride in how we approach the due diligence process. It is well defined and because we approach it as a team, it is both crisp and efficient. For many companies, we take two to three weeks to complete our work, and we proactively let you know exactly where you stand every step of the way.
